An Indianapolis company is seeking a Director Medical Management.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Provides direct supervision and training of disease management team on the appropriate program(s) through prospective, concurrent and retrospective assessment, planning, implementation, tracking, monitoring, and coordination. Ensures appropriate member services are provided by evaluating the team and the program across the continuum of care throughout the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Provides supervision, training and work direction to team to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate services are provided to members

- Assures training programs provide training for new clinical team members and participates

- Educates staff on assigned program, policies, and procedures

- Provides educational programs and information regarding documentation practices

- Effectively manages own time and regularly monitors and reviews team members' productivity

- Assists staff in establishing individual priorities and goals

- Attends case conferences and other clinical meetings to facilitate coordination of care

- Promotes team's safety and enforces personal safety policy

- Stays current on available community resources, health care costs, and industry trends

- Monitors staffing requirements and is responsible for screening, interviewing and hiring new staff

- Interprets and enforces human resource policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner

- Evaluates performance and conducts timely performance evaluations

- Assists quality improvement teams with data collection

- Maintains availability during regular business hours and assures support is available to members as prescribed by program requirements

- Collaborates with staff in establishing operating budget needs and priorities

- Develops working relationships with other health care professionals in the community and families

- Provides support and direction to staff, other health care professionals, members, and families

- Provides leadership to team and support staff in identifying member needs and opportunities for quality improvement

- Must be able to recognize and appreciate cultural diversity at many levels and provide services to members that are culturally competent and linguistically appropriate

- Seeks education/training or assistance with areas of concern

- Assists with marketing, public relations, and discharge planning by participating in departmental meetings

- Licensed driver with automobile insurance in accordance with state requirements

- Exhibits exceptional customer service skills and personal service knowledge

- Works effectively with minimal supervision as well works with fellow employees as a team

- Communicates verbally in a clear speaking voice with exemplary interpersonal communication skills and a professional demeanor along with excellent written communication skills

- Utilizes time off in an effective manner and provides adequate notice of time away from work

- Performs other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned or deemed necessary

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires stamina for long distance or all-day driving of vehicle; Mobility to go into member homes and the use of standard office equipment, including a computer; Vision to discern colors, assess medical situations, read printed materials and computer screen; Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone; Perception required for making medical observations; Fieldwork requires standing and walking between work areas; Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate medical services equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The general environment is clean with comfortable temperature and moderate noise level. Employees work in a field environment with moderate noise levels, limited controlled temperature conditions, and may have potential exposure to strong odors, chemicals, equipment and instrument hazards, and medical hazardous wastes, physical substances and fumes. Tasks may require exposure to illness/disease, work related stress, and hostile members.



Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing with an ASN required with a BSN or MS and a PHN certification preferred.

- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state(s) of practice.

- Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience in an acute hospital setting or equivalent experience with one (1) year of supervisory experience.
