-The individual in this role will manage the purchasing and material control activities of the company to provide and uninterrupted flow of materials and services at the lowest cost of ownership for all departments within the company.
Responsibilities:
-Develop a strategic policy and set direction to attain top tier management of purchased materials and services.
-Establish departmental performance goals.
-Manage and provide leadership to the staff including hiring, disciplining, performance evaluation, assigning tasks, etc.
-Develop training and education for staff.
-All of the above essential functions require the visual ability to determine if a product has been packaged to meet the customer's requirements, the ability to communicate effectively, be mobile within and between all company facilities, finger and grasp materials, organize effectively, and use varying degrees of judgment, independence, and discretion.
-Develop strategies to support the business plan.
-Understand and apply the company's requirements for quality, environmental health & safety management, Kaizen, KPIs and Six Sigma.
Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree in Purchasing, Materials Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
-Minimum spend experience of $100 Million per year.
-Minimum of 7 years of experience as a buyer in a manufacturing environment involved in the procurement of capital equipment, discrete materials, spare parts and/or services. At least 3 of those years must have been supervising. This experience should be in the procurement of resins, chemicals, molding, or packaging equipment.
-Experience in plastics is required!
-Impeccable negotiation and contracts experience.
-Excellent understanding of forecasting, technology, order management techniques, inventory management technique and marketplace.
-Able to solve complex problems and provide a leadership role for the purchasing staff.
-Able to develop and implement a sourcing plan and direct the purchasing activities of the buying staff.
-Excellent planning, organization, analytical skills.
-This individual MUST have strong oral and written communication!
-Understand the procurement cycle, computer ordering, and inventory control systems.
-Familiar with spreadsheets and word processing software programs.
