BASIC DESCRIPTIONThis is a sort technician position for a package shipping company that operates in a competitive, fast pace environment. Daily responsibilities will demand thorough and often highly technical tasks associated with sophisticated conveyor systems on a very large scale. Professionalism, dedication and consistently performing to the highest expectations in the most cost efficient manner is expected. A sort technician's job will test, troubleshoot, repair, modify and perform maintenance on all electrical / electronic and mechanical equipment and systems. They perform preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance on all equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDuties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.-Wears appropriate safety equipment and follows established safety practices and procedures. -Performs repairs to all mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment within the facility. -Performs preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, building service requests and tours. -Generates detailed reports on building power failures and electrical equipment or system failures.-Recommends procedural changes, equipment modifications, etc., that will improve operational reliability of the electrical and mechanical systems.-Troubleshoots all mechanical and electrical systems within the assigned facility. -Demonstrates practical knowledge and use of all tools used in the performance of the job. -Completes Daily Work Sheets, on-line and other paperwork as it relates to the job.Initiates requests for parts.-Communicates with other mechanics, client representative and site manager.-Works with Engineering staff to resolve issues.-Trains new and existing mechanics/electricians in new and current operating procedures.

Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily by maintaining and troubleshooting industrial type mechanical, electrical / electronic systems in a fast pace environment including, but not limited to, 3-phase motors, transformers, motor starters, VFD's, control circuits, basic relay logic, gear reducers, conveyor systems and drives. Recognizes electrical/electronic symbologies and can interpret schematic diagrams. Has an understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic systems and controls.PC literate, familiar with Microsoft Office and email, basic networking abilities and knowledge of, and experience with, high speed product handling and Allen/Bradley PLC controllers and GUI's. Knowledge of Linux platforms and camera systems a plus.Should be familiar with oscilloscopes, function generators, megohmmeters, multi-meters.Individual is expected to provide their own set of basic tools including a multi-meter.Associates Degree is preferred
