Description:
We are searching for a Lead Product Development Engineer. This individual will be developing and testing safety equipment for the automotive industry. If you are driven, detail oriented and a team leader this position may be for you! All qualified applicants must meet the qualifications listed below:
- Design, develop, test and release safety restraint products
- Establish technical requirement documents
- Work with model shop and suppliers to fabricate and assemble prototype parts
- Utilize DFMEA's to lead development process
- Develop and execute test and validation plans
- Communicate with customers
- Conduct regular design reviews and peer reviews
- Lead problem-solving and continuous-improvement activities
- Manage Bill of Materials documenting component costs
- Work with Purchasing to identify and source suppliers
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to develop production processes
- Lead development team and delegate work and prioritizing tasks
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Eng. or Mechanical Eng. Technology degree required
- Minimum 5 years of product development experience required
- Knowledge of safety restraints, seating and/or mechanism design preferred
- Proficient in 3D modeling preferred
- Strong problem solving skills - Six Sigma preferred
- Proficient in GD&T and Tolerance Stack Analysis
- Experience using DFMEA's to drive design and validation requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience as a team-lead required; supervisory experience preferred
