Description:
Our client is looking for a detail oriented professional for their Lead Designer position. This company is committed to developing, marketing, and manufacturing quality safety systems for the automotive industries. They are looking for candidates who are detail oriented, a team player and looking to work in a world class state of the art facility. All candidates applying for this position must qualify by possessing the following skills:
- Design and develop safety restraint products using 3D CAD
- Generate tool ready math models
- Review tooling drawings with tooling engineer
- Utilize GD&T to detail drawings
- Interface with Engineers, Sales & Marketing to incorporate requirements
- Work with model shop and suppliers to fabricate and assemble prototype parts
- Incorporate Design for Manufacturing principles
- Participate in regular design reviews and peer reviews
- Engage in problem-solving and continuous-improvement activities
- Outline Bill Of Materials documenting component materials and weights
- Work with Purchasing to identify cost competitive materials, fasteners, coatings
- Interface with Manufacturing Engineering to understand process capabilities
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Eng. or Mechanical Eng. Technology degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of design experience required
- Knowledge of safety restraints, seating and/or mechanism design preferred
- Highly proficient in 3D modeling; ProE a plus
- Strong problem solving skills required
- GD&T and Tolerance Stack Analysis required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
